Pulling my loose curls up into a bun, I squinted at the desktop screen before me, reading the comments from my live stream on YouTube.
“What do you think about all the Life is Strange 3 rumors? Do you think it’ll live up to everyone’s expectations,” I read aloud, mumbling to myself. “Listen, y’all, please don’t get me started on Life is Strange 3. Not only am I exhausted with all the rumors, but I also wanna fight every time a new coming soon date pops up on all the gaming blogs.” I rolled my eyes as laughing emojis took over my comment section.
“I’m serious,” I said, though I laughed. “At this point, no, the game won’t live up to our expectations because we’ve waited so long for it, you know? This game can’t be less than phenomenal. It has to have great graphics and a fantastic storyline. The mechanics need to be—“
I stopped talking when heart-eye emojis took over the comment section, side-eying a few with Dash’s name.
“Why y’all saying my baby’s name?” I asked, blushing. “Is he in here?” I waited for a comment from him, but it never came. The heart-eye emojis kept rolling in, mixed in with some laughing emojis.
“I’m right here,” he said, his deep voice airing behind me, making butterflies perform somersaults in my stomach. It should've been a crime how light he was on his feet; I hadn’t heard anything outside of my ranting to my subscribers.
I stood up and jumped into his arms, almost knocking everything on my desk over. Daevon held me tightly, kissing my forehead and then my cheek.
“Oh my God! What are you doing here?” I asked, my big brown eyes widening and watering at seeing him.
I wrapped my arms around him, staring up at his handsome face. His locs that used to flow past his shoulders were shorter now.
It’d been a few months since we’d physically seen each other, and the pictures and FaceTime calls hadn’t done his new look any justice. Daevon’s locs stopped above his shoulders, making his bushy, naturally arched eyebrows, broad nose, and full kissable lips stand out more than ever. He’d gotten rid of his dainty, gold nose ring, but I didn’t miss it. Any changes he’d made to his appearance didn’t matter.
The man was fine either way!
I reached up and caressed his cheek, rubbing the back of my hand down his smooth, medium-brown face until I reached his full, silken beard.
“How’d you get in here?” I asked, gently tugging on his beard.
“I’m here because I miss you. I needed to see you, and I refused to wait any longer,” he said, tracing his thumb over my bottom lip. “I got in here because the door was unlocked. What did Bear and I tell you about that shit?”
My eyes widened further at his mention of my brother. After one run-in with my brother a few months ago, he swore they were friends and on nickname bases. I thought it was cute, and I was grateful he and Bear had kicked it off, but Bear wasn’t his friend... or anyone’s friend, for that matter. He was only interested in protecting his family, which meant knowing who was in our lives.
Lost in his eyes, I smiled, then giggled when he slapped and squeezed my ass.
“Stop looking at me like that before you get fucked in front of your subscribers,” he leaned down and murmured in my ear, smoothing his hand over my thin, black leggings.
I gasped and pulled away from him, returning to my live stream. “Sorry about that y’all. I’m going to end the stream now, but I’ll be back tomorrow as scheduled—same time. We’ll be talking about Hitman 3. If you haven’t already, don’t forget to subscribe to my channel and keep those notification bells on to stay connected with me.” I waved at the camera and blew a kiss, ignoring the comment section where half of my viewers begged me to stay while the other half swooned over Daevon.
Most of my subscribers knew me because of Daevon. On YouTube’s platform, he was the man—one of the site's most popular gamers and content creators. I’d watched him for years, my crush deepening every time he uploaded a new video to his channel. And now, eight months into officially knowing him, I was madly in love with Daevon ‘Dash’ Greene. He’d shared his world with me, putting me in the limelight of his subscribers in the midst of it.
“Move in with me,” he said, pulling me into his arms again. Daevon towered over me like a gentle giant. Everything about him beautifully intimidated me and encouraged me to submit to his will. But this... this had caught me off guard.
“Excuse me?” I stepped back, fully viewing his black anime hoodie and gray sweatpants combo. He knew better than to come out of the house with those sweats on. The way his dick print showed out in them made me want to kill anyone who saw him in them before he reached my condo.
“I’m not fucking with this long-distance thing.” He backed me into my office wall, scowling down at me until he uncontrollably smirked. “I want you in Cali with me, and I don’t understand why I can’t have that. You’ll be closer to your school, and more opportunities are there.”
“Daevon—“
“All you’ll have to do is focus on finishing your program. I got everything else.”
“I’d be breaking a lease.”
“Fuck that lease. I’ll pay to get you out of it,” he said.
“My job—“
“You hate that job,” he reminded me. But then again, I didn’t hate it. I knew I deserved more and should’ve been further in my life, but I honestly couldn't complain about my General Manager position at GameStop. It’d paid the bills for a long while.
“Daevon, listen—“
“No, you listen,” he demanded, pulling me into him a final time. “You keep reminding me that we’ve only been kicking it together for eight months. But I love you, Nijea, and you know that. You love me, and I know that. I feel it, too. I’m all in, so hear me when I say I need you in Cali with me.” His intense, copper-brown eyes bored into mine, making my juices flow.
Focus, Nijea. Focus.
“I want nothing more than to be with you every day,” I said.
“But?” he asked, his lips hovering above mine. His minty breath made me smile and quiver, and then I smashed my lips into his, pressing my body so close to him that my brown skin could’ve melted into his.
Daevon parted my lips with his tongue, breaking our kiss after only a second.
“Nah, not today. I’m not fallin’ for that seductive distraction thing you be doing today,” he said. “Talk to me.”
“My whole life is here, Daevon. Miami is all I’ve ever known, and I can count on one hand how many times I’ve been out of Florida. So you have to not only give me time to come to terms with that, you have to give me time to devise a plan for myself. To prepare my family for my move across the country. To get my affairs in order here before I move to Cali with you,” I explained. “But trust me, I want nothing more than to be with you every day, and it will happen. Soon.”
Daevon smirked and nodded. “Soon, huh?”
“Yes.” I blushed, giggling when he whisked me around my desk and gently tossed me onto the plush, yellow loveseat in the corner of my office. He always handled me like I was the weight of a rag doll instead of ten pounds heavier than the last time he saw me. That ‘happy and in love weight’ was clinging to me.
“You like that?” I jested, nodding along with him. “What I just gave you is called hope.”
I pulled him on top of me, moaning as he spread my thighs with his knee and laid between them with half his tall, slim stature hanging off the loveseat. He kissed the top of my breasts that sat up in my sports bra, exhaling deeply like he’d been waiting forever to do that.
“Don’t bullshit me,” he murmured, delicately kissing my bottom lip.
“What happened to just vibe? Let us be what we’re gonna be,” I asked, repeating one of his infamous quotes.
“I fell in love with you and decided that I want to eat your pussy for the rest of my life,” he said, and I wrapped my arms around his neck, smiling widely like a fool in love. “You’re it for me, baby.”
“Soon,” I promised, spreading my thighs wider for him to settle comfortably between them. “Hold on to that.”
“I’m holding onto you,” he assured. “Believe that.”
